NPORS N101 Mobile Crane
The NPORS N101 Mobile Crane course is for operators who need to operate a mobile crane competently and safely. The ten-day novice course covers the crane’s components and controls, exclusion zones, pre-operational and running checks, and safe operation through to shutdown.
Who this course is for
This course is aimed at operators who need to operate a mobile crane competently and safely.
If you already hold a recognised qualification for this category, you can attend a one-day refresher course.
Course content
By the end of the course, delegates should be able to:
Industry and equipment knowledge
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and your responsibilities as an operator.
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
- Locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
- Locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
Preparing to work
- Set up an exclusion zone.
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for mobile crane use.
- Conduct all pre-operational and running checks in accordance with the manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
Operating the crane
- Prepare the mobile crane for use and operate the machine safely and efficiently.
- Environmental considerations.
- Carry out all end-of-work and shutdown procedures.
Before you attend
Entry requirements
Before attending the course, delegates must have:
- A good understanding of spoken and written English.
- If you require the NPORS CSCS Trained Operator card: proof of having passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment touch screen test within the last two years.
What to bring
- Your own appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Certification
Certification available on this course:
- NPORS (Mobile Crane) Traditional Operator Card
- NPORS CSCS (Mobile Crane) Red Trained Operator Card.
(Candidates must have achieved the Health, Safety and Environment test no more than two years before the course start date.)
